So Varun Dhawan and Keerti Suresh’s Theri i.e. Baby John has been released today and after watching the film, what is my personal experience and opinion, I have already seen Theri multiple times and have talked about it, so despite watching it so many times, today I somehow managed to keep my mind as open as possible and without keeping much of Theri in mind, I was sitting to watch the film.

I had convinced myself as much as possible that I am not watching a remake of Theri, I am sitting to watch an action drama film or an action entertainer of Varun Dhawan today because I personally believe that mass elevation, emotions,

these are such things that if you present them with a little new touch from time to time and if the execution is good, then those things work equally, those formulas that are used again and again for the last 20 years.  These are going to work for the next 20 years if they are used in a new way and in the right way.

With that expectation, I went to watch this film today and I would like to say that the film Baby John is successful in doing that work in its interval portion. If I personally liked something in the entire film, it was the interval portion.

There is nothing new there or as if something new has been added to the story. The same things are there but still, the staging for the interval connects the emotions very well. A little new touch has been given there. Even the dialogue of Rajpal Yadav that we get to hear, all these things together make the interval portion effective to a great extent.

And I would like to say that this was the thing in the entire film that I especially liked. Otherwise, if you watch the entire film, the film is a remake and at the same time, scene by scene has been remade here, even the dialogues. Here, the lines from Theri to As It Is have been placed here and in such a film, if you are sitting to watch the film and you try to remove that character of Vijay from your mind, remove Theri from your mind and watch the film, then this is also not what the makers want because Varun Dhawan is doing all those things in the film

which may have started from somewhere in the past but in today’s time, it has become Vijay’s identity. Now if you try to create or copy that thing in the film, then it will definitely look bad. Varun is eating in the same style, Varun is wearing shades in the same style, action is happening in the same style, the same kind of body language is coming and it is not only Varun Dhawan, if you look carefully and if you have seen the original Tamil version, then if you look here, even in a scene of Keerthy Suresh, if you

listen to her dialogues, listen to her way of talking, then there also it will seem that she is trying to copy a little bit of similarity. That scene in the police station when she comes wearing a saree for the first time, that scene especially gives that feeling, otherwise both of them have not given a bad performance anywhere.

Even I would say that where Keerti Suresh dies in the scene, Keerti Suresh’s work is very good in that scene, she has given a very good performance, but still in between, in small places, they are trying to recreate the same theri things, it has a negative impact on the film somewhere. Even Varun Dhawan’s work is very good in the film, he has put in full effort from his side, the performance is good, he looks good in action, the makers should have tried as much as possible that there should not be any similarity in the character with Vijay,

but what they have done is very wrong, due to which that thing does not come out of the mind that we have already seen someone doing all these things in a better way than this, even the makers have done this many times at many places.

It is said that this is not a remake of a film, it is just an adaptation, it is a very cool name, they have used it at many places and I have heard a lot in the public that this name is being used, if we look at the names of adaptation and changes, if we talk about the noticeable changes, then firstly, there will be a

slight change in Jackie Shroff’s character, secondly, Salman Khan ‘s cameo in the film is an extra addition and there is a twist associated with that cameo in the film, which you get to see just after the interval, but if you watch the film carefully, then these three changes do not make any difference to any person in the overall story, that change is just in its place, it is not giving any new angle to the story, nor is any character playing an important role here, even if Jackie Shroff has been given a kind of slightly

different character, then that character brings some new angle or conflict in the story. There is nothing that presents it in a stronger way. Yes, Jackie Shroff definitely appears as a different character in the whole film. While everyone is trying to copy Theri, Jackie Shroff’s character appears different and solid, but the overall impact of any change on the story or the screenplay is not significant.

If I talk about music, I personally did not like any of the songs of the film. Only the hook line in Nain Mattakka and its hook step is a little good to watch and listen to. Otherwise, I did not like the entire song, especially the portion of Dhee, the lyrics etc. there sound more like a dubbed South Indian song.

The rest of the songs are also almost the same. Yes, the background music given by Thaman here, I would say, is quite good, especially Varun Dhawan’s beast mode song, Baby John. The way the title track of Theri has been played and used in the film is quite good but one thing I would like to say is that if you watch Theri, the theme track of Theri, which is the BGM of Theri, if you see it, then use that track in any scene, it elevates it very well but here if you see the theme track of Baby John, I had already used it in the cameo of the megastar of the film, Thaman has

used it with a little modification, we keep that thing aside, if you watch the theme track, it will seem impactful only when you see Varun Dhawan or Baby John on the screen, otherwise if you use it somewhere else, then it does not have that much impact and I felt that thing especially in that scene where the little child whose parents fall from the building and die during the construction work, after that the potion There is one scene in Theri that was a great scene, then the Baby John track that is left there is not

Another thing that I felt in the background music was that the track designed for Jackie Shroff here could have been better, it does not seem to match the character anywhere. Now I don’t know whether it was a problem of my theatre or what.

One, it was playing too loudly, too much, which is happening in many films these days, but I feel that this is more of a theatre issue because recently I have seen that in some films, if I am watching two films twice at a place, then I am getting different experiences. So, there can be a problem of the theatre in this as well, but yes, there is a problem in the sound mixing as well, somewhere or the other, at many places.

If we talk about Salman Khan’s cameo, then after watching it, it is clearly felt that again this cameo has been forcibly inserted and I personally don’t like it. I want that the number of cameos that the big actors are doing these days should be reduced a bit. Firstly, there have already been so many cameos that the excitement of watching cameos that used to be there earlier is almost dead and recently the work that Rohit Shetty did here in Singham Again has killed everything.

We can only say that just because here Salman Khan is introduced to us with an action, it creates a little difference, a presentation by Rohit Shetty and the rest of it will leave a very solid impact.
